David Alejandro Jimenez Rodriguez (* 15. April 1992 in Cartago ) is a Costa Rican boxer in the flyweight .

Career

The 1.64 m tall southpaw is one of the best boxers in Central America . He has won nine gold medals and three bronze medals in Central American competitions, as well as three bronze medals in continental championships. At the Pan American Games in Mexico in 2011 and the 2013 Pan American Championships in Chile , he reached the quarter-finals.

In addition, Jiménez has been a World Cup participant three times. At the 2013 World Cup in Kazakhstan , he defeated Kim In-kyu , Sergej Neumann, Jack Bateson and Koryun Soghomonyan, before he was eliminated in the semifinals against Mohamed Flissi and won bronze. At the 2015 World Cup in Qatar , he defeated Nándor Csóka and Kelvin de la Nieve , but lost again in the quarter-finals to Flissi just 2-1. In 2017 in Germany he was also defeated just 3-2 in the first duel against Belik Galanow .

He retired early in the Olympic qualifications in 2012 and 2016.
