Muhammad Ali (* 20th June 1996 ) is an English boxer in the flyweight .

Career

He was British Student Champion 2009, British Junior Champion 2011 and 2012, British Junior Champion 2013 and 2014, and British Champion 2015. He also won the English Junior Championships in 2012, the English Youth Championships in 2013 and 2014, and the English Championships in 2015. He took part in the Student Championship European Championships in 2009 and the Junior European Championships in 2012, where he remained medalless.

After a good performance, he won the silver medal at the 2014 Youth World Championships in Sofia . He had against Franklin Gonzalez from Venezuela (3-0), Sebastijan Šaćiri from Serbia (3-0), Tu Po-Wei from Taiwan (3-0), Schermen Nischimirimana from Ukraine (3-0) and Masud Jusifsada Azerbaijan (3-0) fought into the final, where he was defeated by the American Shakur Stevenson (0-3).

He was then qualified for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing . With another win against Masud Jusifsada (2: 1) he moved into the semifinals, where he was eliminated again against Shakur Stevenson (0: 3). In the battle for the bronze medal, he then defeated the Indian Gaurav Solanki (3-0).

At the 2014 European Youth Championships in Zagreb , he won the gold medal. He beat the Bulgarian Daniel Asenow (2: 1) in the final , after defeating the Hungarian Sándor Tar (TKo), the Russian Lewan Chasaja (3: 0) and the Ukrainian Nikita Charuta (TKo).

At the 2015 European Games in Baku , he boxed in the elite class and defeated Alexander Riscan from Moldova (3-0), but lost in the round of 16 against Italian Vincenzo Picardi (0-3). In contrast, the 2015 European Championships in Samokow were more successful when he reached the final against Alexander Riscan (3-0), Koryun Soghomonyan from Armenia (3-0) and Kelvin de la Nieve from Spain (3-0). In the fight for the gold medal, however, this time he was defeated by Daniel Asenow (0: 3).

In October 2015 he started at the World Championships in Doha . This time he managed a round of 16 victory against Vincenzo Picardi (2-1), before losing to Elvin Məmişzadə from Azerbaijan (TKo) in the quarterfinals .

He participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after winning the European qualifying tournament in Samsun . He prevailed against Nándor Csóka from Hungary, Igor Sopinskije from Ukraine, Daniel Asenow from Bulgaria and Narek Abgaryan from Armenia. At the games themselves, he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Yoel Finol .

doping

In April 2017, Ali was tested positive for the banned steroid trenbolone at the World Series of Boxing in Morocco and was subsequently suspended from competitions by the world association AIBA with immediate effect. In February 2018, the world association imposed a two-year competition ban.
