Withdrawal of the 2016 Olympic medal

Alojan was stripped of the Olympic silver medal in December 2016 by the International Court of Justice on the basis of a doping test carried out at Alojan before the final match, in which the prohibited substance tuaminoheptane was detected . Alojan justified himself by taking the drug during the preparatory training camp in Sochi . It is said to have served to subside a swelling in his nose and was issued by team doctor Sergey Klyagin. In June 2017, the appeal against this decision was dismissed by the Appellate Body of the Sports Court on the grounds that the anti-doping rules of the International Olympic Committee do not allow any discretion and that disqualification is a necessary consequence of the rule violation.
