Manuel Mantilla Rodríguez (born September 25, 1973 in San Vicente , Guantánamo Province ) is a former Cuban amateur flyweight boxer .
Career
Manuel Mantilla was Cuban Champion in 1998 and 1999, won gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1993 in Ponce , Puerto Rico, the Goodwill Games in 1994 in Saint Petersburg , Russia, the Pan American Championships in 1997 in Medellín , Colombia, and the 1997 World Championships in Budapest , Hungary , the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1998 in Maracaibo , Venezuela and the 1998 World Cup in Beijing , China.
At the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg , Canada, he won bronze. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , Australia, he was only eliminated in the quarterfinals in 5th place.
In the course of his career, he won victories against later professional world champions Eidy Moya , Eric Morel , Martín Castillo , Omar Narváez , Wachtang Dartschinjan , Yonnhy Pérez , Wladimir Sidorenko , Steve Molitor , Daniel Ponce de León and Alberto Rossel .
