Jasurbek Latipov (born September 15, 1991 in Andijon ) is an Uzbek flyweight amateur boxer.

Boxing career

He was Uzbek youth light flyweight champion in 2008 and Uzbek light flyweight champion in 2009. At the 16th Asian Games in November 2010 in Guangzhou , he lost in the round of 16 to three-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Zhou Shiming from China.

His greatest success so far was winning a bronze medal in flyweight at the 16th World Championships in 2011 in Baku . He had prevailed in the preliminary rounds against Samir Brahimi from Algeria 17: 4 and Ivan Figurenko from Belarus 21: 7 and made it to the round of 16, where he defeated the Swede Solomon N'tuve 10: 7. In the subsequent quarter-finals he won against the Italian Vincenzo Picardi 18:11, but lost in the semifinals Andrew Selby from Wales 15:21.

He thus automatically qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Before that, he won the 39th Chemistry Cup in Halle, Germany . In 2013 he won the Uzbek Nations Cup and won a bronze medal at the Summer Universiade in Kazan . He also started at the World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty , where he won the silver medal in the bantamweight division. With victories against Hamza Touba from Germany, Narek Abgarijan from Armenia, Paddy Barnes from Ireland and Andrew Selby from Wales, he reached the final, where he was defeated by the Russian Michail Alojan with a 2-1 judge's vote.

In 2017 he won the Asian Championships in Tashkent and thus qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg . There he reached the final after victories against Yankiel Rivera (5: 0), Daniel Asenow (3: 2), Ceiber Ávila (4: 1) and Kim In-kyu (5: 0), where he lost to Yosvany Veitía and thus Vice world champion was.
