Solomon N'tuve
Solomon N'tuve (born November 20, 1988 ) is a Swedish boxer . He was runner-up in the European flyweight division in 2008.
Career
Solomon N'tuve is the son of African immigrants to Sweden. Together with his brother Jahova N'tuve, he started boxing in 2004 at the Angered BC boxing club in Gothenburg . His trainer was or is there Tommy Andersson. Although he only started boxing at the age of 15, having played football before that, he soon became one of the best Swedish junior boxers. In 2005 he was the Swedish junior runner-up in paper weight (- 48 kg).
In 2006 he took 3rd place at the Swedish Junior Flyweight Championships (- 51 kg) after a semi-final defeat by Clarence Goyeram and in 2007 he managed to become Swedish junior flyweight champion with a victory over Arber Sejdiu. In the same year, with another victory over Arber Sejdiu, he was also Swedish champion in the senior flyweight division. He was able to repeat this success in both 2008 and 2011.
In 2006 Solomon N'tuve began his international career. This year he finished second at the Nordic Junior Championships in flyweight in Tønsberg / Norway after losing points in the final against Dennis Ceylan from Denmark , who also became Junior European Champion in the same year.
In 2007 he took part in the "Tammer" tournament in Tampere and thus for the first time in an international men's tournament and took third place in the flyweight division with a victory over Paul Butler from England and a defeat against Cherif Walid from Tunisia .
In 2008 N'tuve won international tournaments in Gävle and Tampere and also took part in the second European Olympic qualification in Athens . There he lost his first fight against Conor Ahearn from Ireland and thus missed the Olympic qualification for Beijing .
In November 2008 he started at the European Flyweight Championships in Liverpool. He had improved a lot and won there over Conor Ahearn, Bata-Munka Wankejeu from Belarus and Alexander Riscan from Moldova and was thus in the final battle against Heorhij Tschyhajew from Ukraine . Although he was defeated by this experienced boxer on points, he came in 2nd place and thus became vice European champion .
In 2009 he took part in several international tournaments. He couldn't win any of them, but achieved some remarkable individual results. For example, in the Strandjata tournament in Plovdiv, he defeated the Cuban bronze medalist from Beijing 2008 Yampier Hernández on points, and in an international match in Kalmar he won points over Andrew Selby from Wales . He could not defend the Swedish bantamweight title in 2009 because he lost the final against Niklas Helgesson on points.
Later in the year N'tuve took part in the world championships , but was eliminated in the first fight against the Portuguese Pedro Matos (8: 1).
In 2010 N'tuve reached the final of the Nordic Championships, but had to admit defeat to the Finn Petteri Froejdholm (5:12). At the European Championships in the same year he reached the quarter-finals and was eliminated in this against Heorhij Tschyhajew. In the following year N'tuve again took part in the European Championships, but lost in the first fight against Stefan Ivanov from Bulgaria . Even at the 2011 World Championships in Baku , he did not get past the semi-finals.
His goal of participating in the 2012 Olympic Games in London was thus a long way off. In order to achieve it, however, he took part in the European Olympic qualification tournament in Trabzon and, after winning against Pedro Matos, Portugal (12: 7) and Olexandr Shepelyuk, Ukraine (14: 9), reached the semi-finals, which he beat against the eventual winner of the Nordine tournament Oubaali , France narrowly lost (10:11). With this 3rd place he qualified for the Olympic tournament.
In preparation for the Olympic Games, N'tuve took part in tournaments in Helsinki and Havana in 2012 , which he could not win either. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he lost in the first fight against Ilijas Suleimenow.
