Nordine Oubaali (born August 4, 1986 in Lens , Pas-de-Calais ) is a French professional boxer and current WBC world champion in bantamweight .

Amateur career

Oubaali's ancestors come from Morocco . His greatest success in youth was winning a bronze medal in the light flyweight division at the 2005 European Junior Championships in Estonia , when he was defeated in the semifinals against Sergei Vodopyanow . He also won the Francophonie Games in Niger that same year .

At the EU Championships in Ireland in 2007 he won the quarterfinals early against Paddy Barnes , was eliminated in the semifinals against Pál Bedák and thus won again bronze in the light flyweight division. He won another bronze medal in this weight class at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago . After victories against Junior Zarate, Kelvin de la Nieve and Heorhij Tschyhajew , he lost to Zhou Shiming in the semi-finals .

He was thus qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , where he defeated Rafikjon Sultonov , but was again narrowly defeated 3: 3+ against Zhou Shiming in the second fight.

Then he boxed in the flyweight. There he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Italy in 2009 , including a win against Vincenzo Picardi . At the world championships of the same year in Milan , he was eliminated against Olzhas Sattibayev. The 2010 European Championships in Moscow , he finished in the round of 16 with a loss to Mikhail Alojan .

In April 2012, he was able to win the European Olympic qualification in Trabzon when he had won against Alexander Riscan , Stefan Iwanow, Salomo N'tuve and Selçuk Eker . Professional career

He made his professional debut on March 20, 2014. In May 2015 he won the French bantamweight championship with a knockout victory in the first round against Hassan Azaouagh and in December 2016 the intercontinental WBA title with a TKO victory in the twelfth round against Julio Miranda . In June 2017 he won TKO in the tenth round against Alejandro Hernandez and thus secured the silver title of the WBC , which he defended in December 2017 by knockout in the seventh round against Mark Geraldo.

In April 2018 he won by knockout in the second round against Luis Melendez. He played his next fight on January 19, 2019 in Las Vegas for the WBC bantamweight championship and won by unanimous decision against Rau'Shee Warren . He won his first title defense in July 2019 through TKO against Arthur Villanueva. In November 2019, he won another title defense against the previously undefeated Takuma Inoue.
