Dennis Villy Ceylan (born March 3, 1989 in Høje-Taastrup ) is a Danish professional boxer and former European featherweight champion .

Amateur career

Dennis Ceylan boxed as an amateur fly and bantamweight division. In 2006 he won the Junior Nordic Championships in Norway and the EU Championships in Italy. In the elite class (adults) he was Danish champion in 2008, 2010 and 2011, and Nordic champion in 2009 and 2010; in the 2010 final he defeated Solomon N'tuve . In 2011 he reached second place at the Nordic Championships by losing to Bashir Hassan in the final .

In April 2012, he reached third place in the European Olympic qualification in Trabzon , Turkey , after only being eliminated in the semi-finals against Pavlo Ishchenko . He was thus qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , but lost there in the first fight against John Nevin .

He was also a participant in the European Championships in 2008, 2010 and 2011, as well as in the World Championships in 2009 and 2011.

Professional career

He became a professional at Sauerland Event after the Olympic Games and won his debut on September 22, 2012 by TKo in the second round against Artsem Abmiotka (record: 6 wins - 1 loss). After eleven more victories against opponents who were developing, he reached a draw against Cristian Montilla in August 2014. However, he defeated this prematurely in the rematch in February 2015.

On March 14, 2015, he beat Dimitri Kiriljow (31-5) unanimously on points. In June 2015 he defeated Sergio Prado (11-4). With a points win against Ryan Walsh (21-1), he became the European featherweight champion of the EBU Association on October 15, 2016. In March 2017, he defended the title with a technical draw against Isaac Lowe (13-0). On October 21, 2017, he lost to Josh Warrington (25-0) by technical knockout in the tenth round .

In March 2018 he surprisingly lost by knockout in the second round against the Spaniard Jesus Sanchez (8-1) and was also defeated in the rematch on January 19, 2019 by TKO in the fifth round.
