Bashir Hassan
Bashir Hassan Salad (born December 3, 1983 ) is a Swedish boxer .
Career
Bashir Hassan is the son of North African immigrants to Sweden. The family settled in Stockholm and Bashir Hassan started boxing there as a teenager. His club is Djurgårdens IF Stockholm . He is relatively light and boxed first bantamweight and then featherweight . In the years 2000 to 2002 he was Swedish Junior Champion and in 2002 he also won the Nordic Junior Championships in bantamweight. In 2002 he also started at the Junior World Championship in Santiago de Cuba . He won there in bantamweight over Aaron Hassette from Trinidad and Tobago (19: 7) and Likar Ramos, Colombia (13.7) on points and lost in the quarterfinals against the Cuban favorite Rudolfo Perez Martinez (12:27). He finished 5th.
In 2002, Bashir Hassan became the first Swedish bantamweight champion. He defeated Jesus Ruiz Rivera on points (19:10) in the final. He won other Swedish championship titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, each in featherweight. In 2003 and 2011 he was the Swedish runner-up in featherweight. In 2011 he lost in the final fight against Solomon N'tuve just on points (6: 7).
In 2006 he started at the European Championships in Plovdiv . But he lost there in featherweight in the round of 16 against Michail Bernadski from Belarus and finished in 9th place. He also competed in the 2007 World Championships in Chicago . After winning points over the Jamaican Nicholas Walters (13: 9), he lost there again in the round of 16 against Sailmon Ardee from Thailand on points (13:23), which brought him back to 9th place.
In 2008, Bashir Hassan tried to qualify for participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing at the Olympic qualification tournaments in Pescara and Athens . In Pescara he finished 9th and in Athens, after winning points over Michail Bernadski (13: 7 and David Oliver Joyce , Ireland (19:17) and a defeat against Nikolas Isorija from Georgia (5:18)), 3rd place Placements were not enough for a starting place in Beijing. In November 2008 he started at the European Championships in Liverpool , where he advanced to the semi-finals with victories over Julian Stan, Romania (15: 8) and Sandro Schär , Germany (14: 4) In this he lost against Araik Ambartsumjan from Russia on points (2: 9), but by reaching the semi-finals he had already won a bronze medal .
Without winning a medal, Bashir Hassan stayed at the 2009 World Championships in Milan and at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow . In Milan he won featherweight over Askarbek Kalpakow from Kyrgyzstan on points) 9: 6) and lost to Kevin Rivers from the United States on points (5: 9), which brought him to 17th place and in Moscow he won over Kerem Gurgen from Turkey just on points (+2: 2) and lost to Iain Weaver from England on points (3: 8) and came in 9th place. Even at the 2011 European Championships in Ankara , he did not get past 9th place in featherweight. After winning points over Mateusz Mazik, Poland (19:14) against Luke Campbell from England, he was unable to compete there because of an injury.
In addition to these championships, Bashir Hassan took part in countless international tournaments in the course of his career. He stood on the podium a few times, but could only win a few of these tournaments. He also represented Sweden in many international fights and remained victorious in the majority of his fights. In 2011 he became a tough competitor in Solomon N'tuve in Sweden. Hassan was unable to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
