Iain Weaver
Iain Weaver (born January 17, 1990 in Bournemouth ) is an English amateur boxer . In 2010 he became vice European featherweight champion.
Career
Iain Weaver, who comes from a boxer family, both grandfather and father boxed, also started boxing as a teenager. He is a member of the Golden Ring ABC Southampton . His club coach is Stuart Gill, in the English national team, of which he has been a member for some time, he is looked after by Robert McCracken. As a hobby he does snooker in his free time.
In 2007 Iain Weaver became English junior featherweight champion and won the British junior championship in this weight class in the same year. He also won the latter title in 2008. In 2008 he was used by the English Boxing Association at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune / India . In featherweight he defeated Stefan Guiviea, Guayana by breaking off in the 1st round and beat Vikas Krishan Yadav , India (16:10), Paul Hyland, Ireland (16: 3) and Ibrahim Balla, Australia (16: 1) on points, with which he won this tournament.
In 2009 Iain Weaver was the first English featherweight champion in the seniors. On the way to this title he defeated James Mason by dropping out in the 2nd round a. won over Lewis Pettitt (13: 6) and Blain Younis (19:14) on points. At the championship of the European Union in Odense / Denmark, he first won over Oreste Molina, Spain clearly on points (12: 3), but lost in the quarterfinals to David Oliver Joyce from Ireland on points (6: 9) and therefore only got the 5th place.
The year 2010 has been very successful for him so far. He first won the featherweight title at the Commonwealth Championships in New Delhi , defeating Achil Kumar , India (12: 6), Bruno Julie , Mauritius and Manju Wanjarachchi, Sri Lanka (7: 1) on points. He was also able to convince at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow . There he scored points over Oreste Molina (11: 3), Bashir Hassan, Sweden (8: 3), Qualid Belaouara, France (12: 7) and Tyrone McCullough , Ireland (10: 3). In the final battle, however, he had to admit defeat to the German Denis Makarov with 2: 7 goals and thus became vice European champion .
