Chatchai Butdee ( Thai : ฉัตร ชัย บุตร ดี ; born March 26, 1985 in Amphoe Ta Phraya ) is a Thai boxer .

Career

Chatchai Butdee took part in the World Championships in China in 2005 and in the Asian Championships in China in 2009 , where he was eliminated in the first fight. For this he won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games 2009 in Laos and reached 6th place at the 2009 World Championships in Italy ; After victories against Emmanuel Quartey, Anwar Junussow and Wessam Salamana , he was only defeated in the quarterfinals against Eduard Absalimow . At the 2010 Asian Championships in China he lost in the first duel against Suranjoy Singh from India.

In 2011 he started at the World Championships in Azerbaijan and defeated José Meza and Fernando Martínez before he was eliminated by Andrew Selby in tenth place. At the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia , he won the silver medal. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 Butdee won his first fight against Selçuk Eker (24:10) before he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the eventual Olympic champion Robeisy Ramírez (10:22).

He then won the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar and was voted Thailand's Sportsman of the Year for 2013.

After failing early at the Asian Games in South Korea in 2014 and the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 2015, he won the Asian Championships in Thailand in 2015 with victories against Qairat Yeraliyev and Murodjon Ahmadaliyev, among others . He was qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Qatar , where he defeated Mykola Butsenko and Frederik Jensen, before losing to Murodjon Ahmadaliyev in the quarter-finals this time.

In April 2016 Butdee won the Asian Olympic qualification in China by beating Shiva Thapa in the final and was thus qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he defeated Qais Ashfaq in the first duel , but was eliminated in the second fight against Vladimir Nikitin .

In 2017 he again won the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia and reached the quarter-finals at the 2018 Asian Games and the 2019 Asian Championships . At the 2019 World Championships , he was eliminated in the round of 16 with a 2: 3 against Qairat Yeraliyev.
