Eduard Maratowitsch Absalimow ( Russian Эдуард Маратович Абзалимов ; born March 9, 1984 in Miass , Chelyabinsk Oblast ) is a Russian boxer . He was vice world champion in 2009 and European champion in 2010 in bantamweight .

Career

Absalimow is Russian flyweight cadet champion of the year 2000. In 2001 he became Russian junior flyweight champion and also won the gold medal in this weight class at the 2001 European Junior Championships in Sarajevo . In 2002 he became Russian junior bantamweight champion and won the silver medal in the same weight class at the 2002 Junior World Championships in Santiago .

In 2008 he became Russian champion and took part in the European Championships in Liverpool , where he lost 2: 3 in the quarterfinals to the eventual Olympic champion Luke Campbell . At the 2009 World Championships in Milan he defeated Heorhij Tschyhajew , Chatchai Butdee and John Nevin , among others , before losing to Detelin Dalakliew in the final and thus becoming vice world champion.

In 2010 he won the European Championships in Moscow when he won against Marcel Schneider, Răzvan Andreiana , Gamal Yafai and Heorhij Tschyhajew. In 2011/12 he boxed for the Dynamo Moscow team in the World Series of Boxing .

In addition, Absalimow was the Russian runner-up in 2004, 2005, 2010 and 2013, and third in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
