He was the captain of the Bulgarian national boxing team and won several national championship titles from 2001, most recently in 2015 in lightweight.

After winning a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Sarajevo in 2001, he started at the European Championships in Perm in 2002 , where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Ali Hallab . In 2004 he won the EU championships in Madrid and this time also beat Ali Hallab and Zsolt Bedák in the final . At the European Championships in Pula in 2004 , he again won a bronze medal after losing to Gennady Kovalyov in the semi-finals . Due to his previous successes, he was also able to take part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , but was eliminated in the round of 16 against Ağası Məmmədov.

In 2005 he won again the EU championships in Cagliari , where he also managed a victory against Wilhelm Gratschow . At the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang, however, he lost in the preliminary round to Gary Russell .

His first entry into the finals at a European Championship he then achieved in 2006 in Plovdiv . He defeated Ali Hallab and Joseph Murray , among others , before he was defeated in the fight for the gold medal against Ali Aliyev and thus became vice-European champion. In 2008 Dalakliew started at the European Olympic qualification in Pescara and Athens . With wins against Chawazi Chatsygov and Nebojša Rosić, as well as defeats against John Nevin and Ali Hallab, however, he did not manage to get a starter placement for the 2008 Olympic Games .

In 2008 in Liverpool he was able to become vice European champion again after defeating Dennis Ceylan and Andrew Selby , among others , and only defeated in the final 5: 5+ against Luke Campbell . With six wins, including against Andrew Selby, Yankiel León and Eduard Absalimow , he secured the first and so far last Bulgarian amateur world champion title in boxing since 1995 (as of 2020). For this he was voted Bulgaria's Sportsman of the Year.

After this success, however, he could no longer achieve medal placement on an international level. He lost to Furkan Memiş in the round of 16 at the 2010 European Championship in Moscow , dropped out of the quarter-finals at the 2011 European Championship in Ankara and failed in the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Cup in Baku to Luke Campbell.
