Raimkul Chudoinasarowitsch Malachbekow ( Russian Раимкуль Худойназарович Малахбеков ; born August 16, 1974 in Dushanbe , Tajik SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian amateur boxer .

career

Raimkul Malachbekow won the 1993 European Championships in Bursa , where he was able to defeat, among others, Aleksandar Christow , István Kovács and Robert Ciba . In 1994 he won silver at the CISM military world championships and bronze at the Goodwill Games . In 1995 he took part in the World Championships in Berlin and won the gold medal by winning against Joel Casamayor , James Swan, Andrei Gonchar, Artur Mikaelyan and Robert Ciba.

At the European Championships in Vejle in 1996 he was defeated this time in the final against István Kovács, and he also won bronze at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . After victorious fights against José Cotto, Abdelaziz Boulahia and Chenoidov Davatseren, he was eliminated in the semifinals against Arnaldo Mesa .

In 1997 he was able to win the gold medal again at the World Championships in Budapest . On the way to the title he beat Timofei Scriabin , Ishankuli Meretniyazov, Rachid Bouaita, Aram Ramazyan and Waldemar Font . In 2000 he was defeated in the final of the European Championships in Tampere against Ağası Məmmədov and could also reach the final at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , where he lost to Guillermo Rigondeaux . He had previously defeated Ceferino Labarda, Teimuraz Khurtsilava, Alisher Rahimov and Serhiy Daniltschenko.

In 2002 he won the European featherweight championships in Perm , beating Hüsnü Kocabaş, Roman Pawlenkow, Oleg Jefimowitsch, Konstantine Kupatadze and Şahin İmranov

At the 2004 European Championships in Pula, he lost in the round of 16 against Konstantine Kupatadze.

Malachbekow switched to politics after his sports career and became a member of the parliament of the Republic of Kalmykia . He lives with his family in Elista .
