Furkan Ulaş Memiş

Furkan Ulaş Memiş (born April 22, 1991 in Trabzon ) is a former Turkish amateur boxer and Olympic participant from 2008.

His greatest successes were third place in light flyweight at the Cadet World Championships in 2006 in Istanbul , first place in flyweight at the European Olympic qualification in Athens in 2008 (victories against Ronny Beblik , Bato-Munko Wankejew and Jérôme Thomas ) and third place in bantamweight at the 2011 European Championships in Ankara ; while he defeated the Welsh Commonwealth Champion Sean McGoldrick 17:10 and the Finns Matti Koota 21:14, bronze medalist of the Youth World Cup 2008. In the semifinals he won against the European champion, runner-up world champion and eventual Olympic champion Luke Campbell from England 12: 9, before he lost in the semifinals to the Russian Dmitri Polyansky 8:18.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , however, he lost in the first fight against Jitender Kumar from India. He was also a participant in the 2007 Cadet European Championships in Hungary, the 2007 Cadet World Championships in Azerbaijan, the 2008 Youth World Championships in Mexico, the 2009 European Youth Championships in Poland, the 2011 World Championships in Baku and the 2013 European Championships in Minsk .
