Career
Menza grew up as the youngest of 10 brothers.
Meza has not yet made a big impact internationally. He has worked as an assistant coach at the sports association of the province of Azuay since 2003 and, despite his successes at national level, was in Ecuador for a long time in the shadow of the light-flyweight Patricio Calero , the only Ecuadorian boxer at the 2004 Olympic Games, whom he defeated at a national boxing tournament in Cuenca in 2007 . Meza did not take part in the boxing world championships in 2007 , but made a name for itself at the first Olympic qualification tournament for North and South America in Trinidad & Tobago and beat the favored Mexican Odilón Zaleta on the way to the final . In the final he won against the Venezuelan Eduard Bermúdez and qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games with this tournament victory . At the Olympic Games he failed after a bye in the first round in the round of 16 at the eventual bronze medalist Paddy Barnes from Ireland.
At the renowned "Golden Belt" tournament in Romania in June 2008, he had to admit defeat to the eventual winner, Ädilet Qapesow from Kazakhstan , in the first fight .
