Eduard Bermúdez

Eduard Johan Bermúdez Salas (born August 21, 1984 in Maracaibo ) is a Venezuelan boxer .

Career

Bermudez never appeared internationally until 2008. Only when he reached the finals in the first 1st Olympic qualification tournament for North and South America did he make a name for himself. Here he had to admit defeat to the Ecuadorian José Luis Meza , but at the same time qualified in light flyweight (-48 kg) for the 2008 Olympic Games .

He also took part in the '1st AIBA President Cup' in 2008 alongside many other boxers who qualified for the Olympic Games, but had to admit defeat to Filipino Harry Tañamor in the first fight .

At the Olympic Games in Beijing he had to admit defeat to the later Olympic champion Zhou Shiming with 2:11 points in the first round .

In 2010 Bermúdez won the bronze medal at the South American Games . The following year he took part in the World Championships , but was eliminated in the preliminary round against Ferhat Pehlivan , Turkey (+9: 9). In 2012 Bermúdez tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in London . At a qualifying tournament in Rio de Janeiro , however, he failed in the quarterfinals to Jantony Ortiz , Puerto Rico (12: 9).

In 2013 Bermúdez won the bronze medal of the Pan American Championships in Santiago de Chile in flyweight (-52 kg).
