Jantony Ortiz

Jantony Ortiz (born July 21, 1994 in Humacao ) is a Puerto Rican boxer who starts in the light flyweight division. He was a participant in the 2012 Olympic Games in London .

Career

At the age of 16, Ortiz won the national championships in his weight class. This made him the youngest participant to date to have achieved this success.

In 2011 he won two international men's tournaments with participation from the South American countries and, still seventeen years old, reached the bronze medal at the Pan American Games. In May 2012, Ortiz qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games by winning the American Olympic qualification tournament in Rio de Janeiro . At the games themselves Ortiz played a fight against the Russian David Ayrapetyan , who he lost at 13:15. The first round ended with a referee rating of 4: 4 and the third with 6: 6. The duel was decided in the second round, which Ayrapetyan won 5: 3.

In 2013, she participated in the 17th World Amateur Boxing Championships under the supervision of the World Amateur Boxing Association AIBA in the former Kazakh capital of Almaty . There he was victorious in the first two fights - 3-0 each against Severiane Chiladze from Georgia and Gerardo Valdez from the Dominican Republic - but then lost the third fight 2-1 against Shakhriyor Akhmedov from Russia.
