Leo Randolph (born February 27, 1958 in Columbus , Ohio ) is a retired American boxer. He became Olympic flyweight champion in 1976.

amateur

Randolph played his first amateur fight at the age of nine. In 1976 he became US champion and won the Golden Gloves tournament. He then prevailed in the Olympic qualification and took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal for the USA . There he won the gold medal in flyweight at the age of 18. He won the semifinals against the Polish bronze medalist from Munich, Leszek Błażyński , and in the final with 3-2 referee votes against the Cuban winner of the Pan American Games in 1975, Ramón Duvalón .

His record was 160-7.

professional

Randolph turned pro in 1978 and lost one of his build-up fights. On May 4, 1980 he won the WBA Superbantamweight title against Ricardo Cardona , but lost prematurely in his first title defense and then ended his career after only two years as a professional boxer at the age of 22.
