Nathan "Nate" Eugene Brooks (born August 4, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio ; † April 14, 2020 ) was an American boxer and Olympic champion from 1952 in flyweight (up to 51 kg).

In 1950 bantamweight and 1951 flyweight he was able to win a title each at the Chicago Golden Gloves tournament (final winner over Jimmy Quinn and Davey Moore ). In addition, he was able to win the Intercity Golden Gloves in the two years (victories over Sharkey Lewis and Lou Perez ). In 1952 he was in the boxing relay of the USA at the Olympic Games in Helsinki . Brooks won his fights against Risto Luukkonen (Finland), Alfred Zima (Austria), Mircea Dobrescu (Romania) and Willie Toweel (South Africa) and made it to the final. In this he won against the West German Edgar Basel and became Olympic champion.

Brooks went into professional boxing, but could no longer achieve success comparable to the Olympic victory. Against Eddie Crawford he suffered his first defeat in his seventh fight. In 1954 Nate Brooks was able to win the North American bantamweight title by defeating Billy Peacock , but he lost the first defensive battle against Raul Macias in Mexico City . Until his last professional fight in Hawaii in July 1958 , he lost all of his fights.
