In the tenth round of the fight, Ramos hit Moore's head hard with his right fist. This then fell on the back against the lower line of the boxing ring and hit the base of the neck, which injured the brain stem . Moore lost the fight by knockout, but the severity of the injury was not immediately recognized. He even gave interviews . He fell into a coma in the locker room and died a few days later.
