List of reigning boxing world champions

This is a list of reigning boxing world champions of the World Boxing Association (WBA) , World Boxing Council (WBC) , International Boxing Federation (IBF) , World Boxing Organization (WBO) (the four most famous and important world associations) and the oldest and most important boxing magazine The Ring . The linear and the interim world champions are not listed.

The WBA association awards several world championship titles under certain conditions: If a WBA world champion combines his title with the title of one of the associations WBC, IBF or WBO, he is declared a "Unified Champion" and the "regular", then subordinate world championship title, is reassigned. But there are also exceptions, the “super champions” of the WBA who have no other title. Longer periods between compulsory defenses give the world champion the opportunity to box the compulsory challengers of the other associations. The frequently used term "Undisputed Champion" ("undisputed") leads to confusion, since in common parlance it does not refer to the extremely controversial politics of the WBA, but simply to the linear world champion or the best boxer in his weight class . Both the status of the unified and that of the super champion of the WBA are ranked higher than that of the regular. Therefore, the regular WBA world champion, if there is also a unified or super champion, is not the “real” world champion.
