Moruti Mthalane

Moruti Mthalane (* 6. October 1982 in the present province of Gauteng , South Africa ) is a South African boxer in the flyweight and current IBF world champion.

He is trained by Nick Durandt .

Professional career

In 2000 he began his professional career with a win against Wiseman Mnguni . On November 20, 2009 he boxed against Julio Cesar Miranda for the vacant IBF World Championship and won by a unanimous decision of the judges. He defended this title four times and held it until January 13, 2014.

On March 15, 2014 Mthalane won the vacant IBO world title against Jether Oliva in Durban .

In the summer of 2018, Mthlane met the Pakistani Muhammad Waseem . That fight was about the vacant world championship belt of the IBF. Mthalane won by unanimous judge decision and captured this title again.
