Thammanoon Niyomtrong (* 20th September 1990 in Mueang Surin , Surin , Thailand ) is a Thai Muay Thai fighters and current boxers in the straw weight . He is the reigning world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA for short) and is currently undefeated.

Professional boxing career

In his first fight, Niyomtrong secured the vacant WBC Youth World Championship with a victory through a "technical decision" in round 6 in a 10-round fight against the Philippines Marzon Cabilla , which he successfully defended seven times in a row.

On October 1, 2014, Niyomtrong became interim world champion of the WBA when he inflicted his first defeat on the previously undefeated Nicaraguan Carlos Buitrago (then match record 27-0-1). He defended this belt three times in a row and competed against Byron Rojas for the WBA World Championship at the end of June 2016 . The 1.55 m tall left-hand boom won this battle unanimously on points.
