Amphoe Mueang Surin ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง สุรินทร์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) in the center of Surin Province . The province of Surin is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Amphoe Mueang Surin borders the following counties (clockwise from the north): Amphoe Chom Phra , Khwao Sinarin , Sikhoraphum , Lamduan and Prasat of Surin Province, and Amphoe Krasang and Satuek of Buriram Province .

This district is home to the Rajabhat University of Surin and a subsidiary campus of the Rajamangala Isan Technical University .
