Amphoe Prasat ( Thai : อำเภอ ปราสาท ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south of Surin Province . The province of Surin is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Amphoe Prasat borders the following districts (clockwise from north): Amphoe Mueang Surin , Lamduan , Sangkha , Cape Choeng and Phanom Dong Rak in Surin Province, as well as Amphoe Ban Kruat , Prakhon Chai , Phlapphla Chai and Krasang der Buriram Province .

history

The area of today's Prasat County was originally part of the Mueang Surin district. On March 4, 1938, the seven tambon Kang Aen, Bakdai, Ta Bao, Prue, Thung Mon, Phlai and Thamo were separated, from which the Prasat district was established.

Local administration

There are three municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

Kantuatramuan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กัน ต ว จ ระ มวล ), consisting of the entire tambon Kantuatramuan.
Kang Aen (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กัง แอ น ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Kang Aen.
Nikhon Prasat (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นิคม ปราสาท ), consisting of the entire Tambon Prue.
