Amphoe Rattanaburi ( Thai : อำเภอ รัตนบุรี ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the northeast of Surin Province . The province of Surin is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Rattanaburi District borders the following districts are (from south clockwise) to the Amphoe Non Narai , Sanom and Tha Tum province Surin, to the Amphoe Suwannaphum and Phon Sai of Roi Et Province , and to the Amphoe Rasi Salai , Bueng Bun , Pho Si Suwan and Mueang Chan of Si Sa Ket Province .
history
Rattanaburi was a Mueang under Mueang Surin, it was elevated to Amphoe status during the Thesaphiban administrative reform at the end of the 19th century.
