Amphoe Mueang Chan (in Thai อำเภอ เมือง จันทร์ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Si Sa Ket . The province of Si Sa Ket is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Mueang Chan District borders the following districts (from north clockwise) to the Amphoe Pho Si Suwan , Uthumphon Phisai and Huai Thap Than in the province of Si Sa Ket, and to the Amphoe Samrong Thap , Non Narai and Rattanaburi the province of Surin .

history

Mueang Chan was initially set up on April 1, 1992 as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating three tambon from the Uthumphon Phisai district . On October 11, 1997, it was promoted to Amphoe.

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Mueang Chan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เมือง จันทร์ ) consists of the whole tambon Mueang Chan.
  • Nong Yai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนองใหญ่ ) consists of the whole Tambon Nong Yai.

There is one municipality with "local government organization" status ( tambon administrative organizations ) in the county:

  • Ta Kon (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ตา โกน )
