Ödemiş is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Izmir with 129,407 inhabitants. The district is located in the southeast of the province and borders the provinces of Aydın and Manisa . After an administrative reform in 2014, all districts of Izmir are directly subordinate to the Lord Mayor of Izmir . The former mayors of the municipalities ( Belediye ) were downgraded to the rank of Muhtar . Since then, the city has been identical in terms of population and area to the district.
