Buca is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Izmir and at the same time a municipality of the Büyükşehir Belediyesi (city municipality) Izmir . After a regional reform, the city is identical in terms of population and area to the district.

The city of Buca is located in the southeast of the Izmir city center. The district is bordered by Balçova and Karabağlar to the west, Gaziemir to the southwest , Menderes and Torbalı to the south, Kemalpaşa to the east and Bornova to the north .

In Buca is the campus of the 9th September University . In the district of Şirinyer in the west of the city there is a horse race track on Koşuyolu Caddesi, and in the north there is Yedigöller Park. Until the fire in Izmir in 1922, Buca was the center of the Levantine population of Izmir.

The politicians Işılay Saygın and Ahmet Piriştina were born in Buca.
