The Nöckerskottenbank colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Werden- Fischlaken. The mine was shut down and reopened several times during its operating time.

Mining history

On June 11 of 1788 which was mining right by the Abbot Anselm of becoming awarded . After the award ceremony, tunnel construction was carried out in the same year . On November 12, 1854, a length field was awarded. From the second half of 1855 the mine was in production. In 1857, mining was initially carried out, but from the second half of the same year the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents. In 1871 the mine was put back into operation. The coal mined was conveyed in a shaft of the Paul colliery . The Nöckerskottenbank colliery had to pay a fee to the Paul colliery for this service. In 1876 a merger with the Zeche Louise under the name Louise & Nöckerskottenbank was entered. In 1879 this association was separated again, the mine was now back as a separate operation. In 1884 the mine field was opened up via the Paul mine. A small amount of mining took place above the bottom of the tunnel . In 1888 the mine was closed. In 1919 the mine was put back into operation. On May 1, 1924, the Nöckerskottenbank colliery was finally shut down.

Promotion and workforce

The first known production figures for the mine date back to 1871, when 428 tons of hard coal were produced . The first known workforce at the mine dates back to 1873, when 62 miners were producing 4,897 tons of hard coal. In 1869, 18 miners extracted 2316 tons of hard coal. In 1879, the production was 2293 tons of hard coal, the workforce was six. In 1881 four miners produced 975 tons of hard coal. In 1885, two miners extracted 235 tons of hard coal. The last production figures of the mine are from 1888, 65 tons of hard coal were extracted by two miners. In 1919, another 95 miners were employed at the Nöckerskottenbank colliery.
