description
Kemalpaşa is located on the Nif Çayı River, which flows into the Gediz , the ancient Hermos, a little north of the city , between the mountains Kemalpaşa Dağı (also Nif Dağı ) in the south and Manisa Dağı (also Yamanlar Dağı , Spil Dağı , in ancient times Sipylos ) in the North. The Nif Dağı is one of the mountains that were named Olympos in ancient times. The city is located on the E 96 from Izmir to Afyon .
history
In ancient times the place was at times a residence of the Byzantine emperors under the name Nymphaion . The name later became Nif. The city was renamed Kemalpaşa in honor of Ataturk .
Attractions
In the city itself, you can see the ruins of a palace that Emperor Andronikos I Komnenus had built in the 12th century. On the road to Torbalı , about ten kilometers south, is the Hittite rock relief of Karabel . About eight kilometers northwest of the city is the Ulucak Höyük , a settlement mound that was inhabited from the Neolithic to Byzantine times .
