Amphoe Samrong Thap ( Thai : อำเภอ สำโรงทาบ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the east of Surin Province . The province of Surin is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Amphoe Samrong Thap borders the following districts (from southwest clockwise): Amphoe Sikhoraphum , Sanom and Non Narai in the Province of Surin, as well as Amphoe Mueang Chan , Huai Thap Than and Prang Ku in the Province of Si Sa Ket .

The "Branch Circle" ( King Amphoe ) Samrong Thap was established on September 1, 1958, and on December 11, 1959, it was promoted to an Amphoe.

Local administration
There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Muen Si (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หมื่น ศรี ), consisting of the entire tambon Muen Si.
- Samrong Thap (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สำโรงทาบ ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Samrong Thap and parts of the Tambon Nong Phai Lom.
There are also nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
