Alfred Zima

Alfred Zima (born August 23, 1931 ) is a former Austrian boxer and Olympic participant.

Alfred Zima was Austrian flyweight champion in 1952 and Austrian featherweight champion in 1953, 1957, 1958 and 1964. In 1952 he represented Austria at the 15th Olympic Games in Helsinki , where he won in the preliminary round against Pablo Lugo from Puerto Rico before he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the eventual Olympic champion Nathan Brooks from the USA.

At the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1955 in Warsaw and 1957 in Moscow , he was eliminated early in the quarter-finals and the second round. He was also a participant in the European Championships in West Berlin in 1955 , in Prague in 1957 , in Lucerne in 1959 and in Berlin in 1965 , but without winning the medal ranks. He achieved his best placement at an EM in 1955, when he only lost in the quarterfinals to Hans-Peter Mehling and thus reached 5th place.
