Diyorbek Oʻrozboyev ( Cyrillic and Russian Диёрбек Бахтиёр угли Урозбоев ; born August 17, 1993 in the Shovot district , Xorazm province ) is an Uzbek judoka . He competes in the extra light weight , the weight class up to 60 kilograms.

Athletic career

Diyorbek Oʻrozboyev was U20 Asian champion in 2011, and the following year he finished third. At the U21 World Championships in 2013 he won the silver medal behind the South Korean An Ba-ul . In 2014 he finished second at the Grand Prix tournament in Tashkent, and in 2015 he finished third at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi. At the 2015 World Championships in Astana, he finished seventh.

In 2016 he won the Grand Prix tournament in Tbilisi. At the Asian Championships in Tashkent in 2016 he was defeated in the final to the Kazakhs Jeldos Smetow . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , 1.70 m tall Diyorbek Oʻrozboyev defeated Australian Joshua Katz after 1:22 minutes in his first fight . In the round of 16 he won against the Swiss Ludovic Chammartin in a fight over the full five minutes by Waza-Ari. Jeldos Smetow won the quarter-finals after 47 seconds. In the hope round Oʻrozboyev defeated the Brazilian Felipe Kitadai after 4:31 minutes, the Uzbek won the fight for bronze against the Georgian Amiran Papinashvili after five minutes with a small score.

At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Oʻrozboyev defeated the Georgian Papinashvili in the round of 16 and the Mongolian Boldbaatar Ganbat in the quarter-finals . In the semifinals he lost to Orxan Səfərov from Azerbaijan, the fight for bronze was won by the Uzbek against his compatriot Mukhriddin Tilovov . A year later at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018 he defeated the South Korean Lee Ha-rim in the semifinals and the Japanese Toru Shishime in the final , winning his first major international title.
