Guinea-Bissau , whose NOK , the Comité Olímpico da Guiné-Bissau , was founded in 1992, has been taking part in the Summer Olympics since 1996. No athlete has yet been sent to the Winter Games. Athletes from the West African state could not win medals.

Overview

The Olympic history of Guinea-Bissau began in Atlanta in 1996 with two athletes and a freestyle wrestler . The country's first Olympic athlete was sprinter Amarildo Almeida on July 20, 1996, who competed in the 100-meter run. The 800-meter runner Anhel Cape was the first woman to take part in the Olympic Games for Guinea-Bissau. It started at the Sydney 2000 Games on September 22nd.

The country's athletes were also unsuccessful in the following games. Outstanding was the freestyle wrestler Augusto Midana in London in 2012 , who reached 7th place in the middleweight division. In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro , a judoka competed for Guinea-Bissau for the first time.
