Bhutan , whose NOK , the Bhutan Olympic Committee , was founded in 1983 andrecognizedby the IOC in the same year, has participated in the Summer Olympic Games since 1984. Until 2008, the country's athletes only competed in archery, the national sport of Bhutan. So far, no athletes have been sent to the Winter Games. Young athletes took part in the two youth summer games held so far.

Summer games

The country's first Olympians were archers Thinley Dorji , Nawang-Dash Pelzang, and Lhendup Tshering on August 8, 1984 . On the same day, the first women from Bhutan competed in archery. They were Sonam Chuki, Rinzi Lham and Karma Choden. Until 2008, all of Bhutan's Olympic teams consisted of archers. It wasn't until 2012 in London that a marksman took part. Bhutan has not been featured in any other Olympic sport so far.

Youth games

A young sportswoman competed in Taekwondo at the first 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore .

In 2014 in Nanjing , two athletes, a boy and a girl, took part. They competed in athletics and shooting.
