Landscapes was a melodic hardcore band from Somerset formed in 2008 .
history
Beginnings, Reminiscence and Life Gone Wrong
Landscapes were 2008 by singer Shaun Milton, the two guitarists Martin Hutton and Kai Sheldon, as well as bassist Nick Willcox and drummer Jordan "Jordi" Urch in Somerset in the United Kingdom established. In the meantime, Willcox has been replaced by Tom Diamond Poulton on bass.
In May 2010 the EP Reminiscence was released on Broken Night Records . The debut album Life Gone Wrong was released in July 2012 via City of Gold Records , which is no longer for sale. The album was reissued in September 2013 via Pure Noise Records .
On August 4, 2012, the group played at the Hevy Music Festival in Kent , where the band could be seen on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage . Eisberg and Brutality Will Prevail also played on the same day . The appearance at the Hevy Music Festival was part of the European tour of the bands The Carrier and All Teeth , in which Landscapes appeared as the opening act. The tour went through Germany , the Netherlands , Austria , Belgium , Italy and the United Kingdom .
Between February 18 and 23, 2013, Landscapes played as part of the Rock Sound Impericon Exposure Tour as the opening act for Stray from the Path and The Ghost Inside . The concert tour included six performances in the UK. From September 9-20, 2013, Landscapes played In Hearts Wake on a European support tour for The Amity Affliction . The concerts took place in Germany, Belgium , France , Austria, and the United Kingdom . At the end of January 2014, the band could be seen supporting Defeater . The group only played the shows in Germany, Italy , Poland , Hungary , the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland . Caspian , More Than Life and Goodtime Boys also played on this tour . More Than Life only played in the UK. Before this tour, Landscapes played four headlining shows in Germany. These took place in Dresden , Bielefeld , Frankfurt am Main and Göttingen .
On March 10, 2014, the group played as the opening act for Architects for their album release party for Lost Forever // Lost Together in Brighton . Northlane and Stray from the Path also played on this show . The group was confirmed as one of several opening acts for Deez Nuts in May 2014 . Landscapes were to have seven concerts with the Australian band in Germany and Switzerland between August 16 and 23, 2014 . However, the band had to cancel these performances because singer Shaun Milton had been suffering from laryngitis for a long time . On August 30, 2014, the band announced that they had gone to the studio to work on their second studio album.
Between November 13 and 23, 2014, the group could be seen for the first time in Australia as the opening act for Trophy Eyes . From April 6th to 25th, 2015 the band toured with The Tidal Sleep through several countries in Europe. In August, a second tour followed through several European countries, including Switzerland , Austria and Belgium , which is accompanied by Break Even and Endless Heights .
Modern Earth and resolution
After the group had been quiet for several months, the second album, entitled Modern Earth , was announced for April 8, 2016 on February 9, 2016 . In addition, a first new piece was published with Neighborhood . The album was recorded at Panda Studios in Fremont , California with producer Sam Pura, while Neil Kennedy did the mastering at the Ranch Production House in Southampton . The album was finally released worldwide on April 8, 2016.
From May 4th to 20th, 2016 the group toured Europe with Capsize . After the band had become quiet in 2017, all internet presences were switched off and a suspicious status was published on Twitter, a musician of the group confirmed in January 2018 that Landscapes is no longer active.
style
Sebastian Berning from Powermetal.de describes the music of Landscapes as "dark and melodic hardcore " and assigns the band to groups like Dead Swans , More Than Life , The Carrier and Killing the Dream . The songs sound, according to Berning, "beautifully desperate, dark and sad". Nevertheless, the music is melodic and varied. Patrick Siegmann, editor at Stageload , says that landscapes do not stand out because of their riffs, but because of their emotions. The British magazine Rock Sound is of the opinion that Landscapes have found harmony between aggressiveness and emotion. The critic compares the group's sound with groups from the post-rock genre. In an interview, Milton revealed that the group's lyrics were written on a very personal basis.
