Pure Noise Records is an independent label from Berkeley , California , United States founded in 2008 that specializes in punk and its subgenres.

history

Originally the label was called Pure Noise Entertainment and was supposed to be a pure concert agency, but Round decided to set up a record company after two organized concert tours, as he did not see himself as a promoter of concerts. He previously worked internally at Fat Wreck Chords and as an editor at AMP Magazine.

The first release was a CD by the American melodic hardcore band No Bragging Rights . First, the group sent round demos to various record companies in the hope that a label would sign the band. Since this did not happen, however, he decided to produce the album himself. He asked his mother if she could give him money to produce a CD, which she agreed to. At this point he was often in contact with Craig Ericson, the founder of Rise Records , who was at his side in an advisory capacity. Thus, The Consequence of Dreams by No Bragging Rights was the first album that was released by Pure Noise.

Between 2008 and 2010 the label operated as an in-house project and brought just five productions onto the market. In the meantime, Pure Noise has signed two bands, Landscapes ( United Kingdom ) and The Story So Far, among others , which have become more well-known. So toured Landscapes several times by Europe and the second album by The Story So Far reached a chart position in the official US charts. The Story So Far will also play on the main stage of the Warped Tour for the first time in 2014 and have sold almost 50,000 records from their album What You Don´t See to date . With The Finer Things by State Champs (No. 131) and Angst von Handguns (No. 155), the label has released two more albums that made it into the official US album charts . In the first five years of the record company's existence, more than 280,000 records were sold worldwide. Round now shares an office with concert manager Brad Wiseman from the Soroka Agency.

Further signings include the punk band Gnarwolves , the pop-punk groups Brigades and Hit the Lights , as well as the metalcore band Vanna . On September 15, 2014, the label announced the signature of Senses Fail .

Other releases of the label include works by Man Overboard , Transit (now with Rise Records ), Handguns and The American Scene . The split EP by Man Overboard and Transit sold almost 4,000 copies and helped to further increase the label's popularity. In Germany , Alive AG takes over the distribution of the label's productions.
