Senses Fail was founded in 2002 by James "Buddy" Nielsen. Via advertising on the Internet, he met the first line-up that Dan Trapp (drums) brought to the rehearsal: Dave Miller (guitar) and Garrett Zablocki (guitar). Mike Glita later joined the band as bassist. On August 16, 2002, the EP From the Depths of Dreams was released , which led to a record deal with Drive-Thru Records . These published the EP again in 2003. In 2004 the debut album Let It Enfold You was released on Vagrant Records . The group then played on the Warped Tour from 2004 to 2006 . In 2005 the band took part with a cover version of Suicidal Tendencies ' Institutionalized on the soundtrack for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland . Then came a new guitarist, Heath Saraceno, who replaced Miller. In 2006 the album Still Searching was released , which went more in the emo direction. The next tour was with New Found Glory . In 2007 Mike Glita left the band and was briefly replaced by Jason Black from Hot Water Music , who remained in the band permanently from then on. The album Life Is Not a Waiting Room was released with him . In 2009 Saraceno left the band and was replaced by Zack Roach. On March 26, 2013, the band's fifth studio album, Renacer, was released.
style
Basically, the sound is based on a rather melodic and harmonious post-hardcore sound, in which quieter sections alternate with screams. The band plays a style that is strongly characterized by harmonious melodies and straightforward song structure, which is why the group has strong pop-punk influences. The first albums in particular are heavily influenced by screamo and emo, while the later albums tend towards pop-punk and post-hardcore .
