Cabin Fever ( Eng. Lagerkoller ) is a horror film by the US-American director Eli Roth from 2002.
action
Five college graduates want to graduate in a remote forest cabin. In the forest they meet a very sick man who is later shot and accidentally set on fire by the group after he has tried to steal their car. Burning, he runs back into the forest and falls into the hut's drinking water supply.
When the first of the five friends falls ill with carnivorous bacteria , they clash in despair to protect themselves from infection. This shows their true character. In their attempt to find help from the villagers, they encounter fearful peasant boobies, incompetent deputy sheriffs and a wild dog named “Dr. Mambo".
After Karen's face is eaten away by this dog, Paul kills her out of love. Meanwhile, four out of five students have fallen ill, except Jeff, because he left the hut early to spend the time alone in the forest and to protect himself from the others. Since he only feeds on beer there , he will not be infected. Then the events roll over. Some backwoodsmen attack in revenge after one of the students infected the son of a shopkeeper. Bert is shot by them. Paul manages to kill all the backwoodsmen, but he cannot prevent Marcy from being caught by the wild dog "Dr. Mambo ”is torn apart. The police now know about the bacterium and have been given the task of killing anyone infected. So Paul gets into the hands of a police officer and dies. The next morning Jeff comes back to the hut, full of joy because he survived, and is shot by several police officers when leaving the hut, who also thought he was infected. All corpses are then cremated.
The last shot shows two children scooping water from the polluted lake for their homemade lemonade, which they then sell to the police.
