description

Koller (Middle High German kolre , Old High German Kolero = "anger" of the medieval Latin cholera = "outburst". See also choleric ) is a popular Eindeutschung and refers to a sudden fracturing or silent anger , a serious mental excitement or mental disorders resulting from an environment or derive the situation. In individual people it manifests itself in fear , anger, despair , overactivity and depressive states .

The causes are often a lack of psychosocial care, poor food, disease outbreaks, overcrowding in the camp, stress, lack of sleep and the like. By combating these causes, such as creating private areas of retreat and addressing individual characteristics, camp fever can often be limited or reduced at an early stage.

Everyday language

The term “camp fever” is also widely used in everyday language when describing the impaired good state of mind and the resulting “freaking out” of a participant, for example at a holiday camp or training camp. For example, in space research such as the Mars-500 project, medically accompanied examinations take place. Even with temporary measures such as a quarantine , it is said that those affected can experience storage fever.

Literature and film

  • The horror novel Shining and the film of the same name deal with the subject of camp fever (called "trapper fever" there). In 1997 the story was filmed for the second time .
  • The horror film Cabin Fever from 2002 also deals with the issue of warehouse fever.
