Reviews

Brian Lowry wrote in Variety magazine on July 18, 2005 that the film was a little "dirtier" in tone than the original film, but it offered enough laughs. Except for Billy Bob Thornton, the actors are not up to the film. The film is too rough for small children. The product placements are not particularly subtle.

Michael Rechtshaffen praised the portrayal of Billy Bob Thornton, the screenplay and the director, who is "on the rise " in The Hollywood Reporter magazine on July 18, 2005 . However, some moments are not fully satisfactory. The film is clearly better than the two sequels of the original film.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film suffered “from the flat staging of its gags as well as from the fact that the young people do not provide any real contrast film to their coach, whereby the punk attitude of the film is fizzled out . Billy Bob Thornton interpreted "the part of the coach that Walter Matthau played in the original, based on his role in Bad Santa as an obscene libertine" .

The film was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2005. The ensemble of children's actors received the Young Artist Award in 2006 .
