The Gebroeders Ko are a Dutch pop duo . It was founded in 1999 in Raamsdonksveer by the two brothers Ton and Gerard Koopmans. Musically, they have specialized in party hits and cover versions . They celebrated some chart successes with them in their home country.

Career

Ton and Gerard Koopmans are sons of the singer Gerrit Koopmans, who under the pseudonym Gerrit Uittenberg was able to land a few hits himself in the late 1980s. Before starting their career as musicians, both worked in construction.

In 2003 they achieved their first small success with the catchy single Ik heb 'n toeter op m'n Waterscooter . A number of carnival hits followed. The biggest hit of their career so far was in 2006 with a cover version of the disco hit Boten Anna recorded in Dutch , in the original by the Swedish DJ Basshunter , with which they reached the top ten of the Dutch charts for the first time. A version specially recorded for the Christmas season also made it into the top ten.

In 2010 they produced the song Vuvuzela as the mood hit for the 2010 World Cup . The song is about the vuvuzela horns, the accents are even played with vuvuzelas.

After her title Schatje, ik je foto? from 2009 was covered in German by Vollker Racho and Marc Pircher , the Gebroeders Ko published their own variant in November 2010 together with Mickie Krause under the title Schatzi schenk mir ein Foto! . However, the abbreviation Ko & Ko appeared as the interpreter . This title made it into the sales charts of German-speaking countries in January 2011.

In 2010 they produced the song Helikopter . In the summer of 2011 , Markus Becker (singer) covered this song in German. Her 2011 hit Alleen Maar Schoenen Aan also became a commercial success in Germany in the German version by Mickie Krause ( Nur noch Schuhe an! ).
