Boten Anna ("Anna, der Bot ") is a song by the Swedish dance musician Basshunter (Jonas Altberg), which was released on his third studio album LOL <(^^,)> . This song is also the reason for its popularity in Sweden and the neighboring Scandinavian countries, but also in Iceland , Finland , Poland , the Netherlands and the German-speaking countries. The song was released on May 9, 2006.
content
The Swedish text by Boten Anna tells the story of a female chatter who is mistaken for a bot by the interpreter. In the end, however, he finds out the truth. The song is based on an experience of the singer. A friend had told him he was going to create a bot with administrative rights to keep his channel # BassHunter.se calm and orderly. A little later Jonas saw a new user with administrative rights named Anna, who had just entered the channel, and of course believed that it was the bot mentioned by his friend. It wasn't until months later that he found out that Anna was not a bot, but his friend's girlfriend. This experience made him write a song about it.
However, the lyrics to the song have often been misunderstood. The word bot is often confused with båt (Swedish for “boat”, similar pronunciation to German), as many people neither know the meaning nor the correct spelling of bot. The fact that the word kanal in Swedish denotes both an IRC channel and a water-bearing channel and the singer in the music video by Boten Anna drives along a canal in a pedal boat with the label A suggests that this is due to the Ambiguity of the text deliberately a play on words was used. This intensified the misinterpretation of the actual content among international listeners who were ignorant of Swedish .
reception
In addition to good chart positions in many countries, the title was also the official Russ song in Norway . In Germany, the piece quickly became known among IRC users through links to the official website in instant messengers and on IRC . On January 19, 2007 the song was released on maxi CD in Germany.
Cover versions were also launched in the Netherlands and Israel . In the Dutch version Ik heb een boot (“I have a boat”) a boat called Anna is actually described, as the word messenger is the plural form of the Dutch word for boat . The Israeli version called Rotze Banot (“I want girls”) tells of a man who goes to a nightclub with a friend. This version was also countered again from the female side Rotza Banin ("I want boys"). On April 20, a German cover version of Kid Bob was released with the title Dicke Anna . There is also a Polish version of Cliver with the title Lekarstwo na gorzkie łzy . With Now You're Gone, Basshunter has released an English version of Boten Anna with a different text.
