Greg Kinnear
Gregory B. "Greg" Kinnear (born June 17, 1963 in Logansport , Indiana ) is an Oscar- nominated American actor .
Life
Kinnear's father Edward Kinnear was a diplomat for the United States Department of State and his mother Suzanne (nee Buck ) worked as a housewife. He has two older brothers: James (* 1957) and Steve (* 1959). As a child, Greg's family accompanied his father to different countries such as Lebanon (1974/75 until the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war ) and Greece (1975-1982). For example, he went to school in Athens for part of his childhood and is now fluent in Greek . In 1985 he graduated from the University of Arizona at Tucson with a degree in journalism .
Greg Kinnear has been married to Helen Labdon since May 1, 1999. Their first child was stillborn in 2001. The couple now live in Los Angeles with three daughters (* 2003, * 2006 and * 2009) .
Career
During his school days in Athens , he had the opportunity to gain first experience in show moderation through his own radio program School Daze with Greg Kinnear .
Kinnear first attracted attention on television in 1991 when he commented on clips from other TV shows as a cheeky presenter on the entertainment program Talk Soup . He also wrote the scripts for some episodes of the cult show he appeared on from 1991 to 1994; for some time he also acted as executive producer. In 1994 he left the show to host his own late night show , Later With Greg Kinnear . Here, too, he also worked as an executive producer.
Kinnear made his cinema debut in Sydney Pollack's remake Sabrina (1995), alongside Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond . In 1997 he played Jack Nicholson's unfortunate neighbor in James L. Brooks Oscar- nominated comedy It Could n't Be Better (1997). For his performance, he received an Oscar nomination, an award from the National Board of Review , and nominations for the Golden Globe , the Golden Satellite Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor . He was then seen in Nora Ephron's romantic comedy em @ il für dich (1998) alongside Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan , for which he won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award , and in Mike Nichols Good Vibrations - Sex from Another Star (2000).
His role in Paul Schrader's biopic Auto Focus (2002) in the role of actor and comedian Bob Crane is often viewed as a "turning point in Kinnear's career", as "his acting breadth, depth and performance are now also revealed in dramatic roles." After this film, the actor also took on several dramatic roles. B. in the role of the terminally ill father Steve Miller in With you by my side (2010). He starred alongside Mel Gibson in We Were Heroes (2002), Matt Damon in Unzertrennlich (2003) and Green Zone (2010), and Robert De Niro in Godsend (2004) . In the sixth season of the House of Cards series , he took on a larger role.
His voice was heard in the cartoon Robots (2005). In 2019 he made his directorial debut with Phil . At the same time he was seen in the lead role.
