The Kennedys is a Canadian-US television miniseries in eight parts of 45 minutes each about the Kennedy family .

The main roles are played by Greg Kinnear , Katie Holmes , Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson .

Supported by his father, Jack was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1946 and to the United States Senate in 1952. The relationship between Bobby and his father is strained. Jackie is threatened with divorce because of Jack's repeated infidelity, but Joe promises her a million dollars if she stays.

Jackie struggles to find a balance between her family and her role as first lady . Bobby is preparing to fight organized crime. The government observes Soviet troop movements on the borders of East Berlin , which ultimately lead to the city being sealed off.

Barnett and the Ku Klux Klan heat up the mob, prompting Jack to deploy the US Marshals and then the National Guard . Jackie's addiction to amphetamines is increasing. Joe suffers a severe stroke.
