Flash of Genius is an American film drama from the year 2008 . Directed by Marc Abraham , the screenplay was written by Philip Railsback based on an article by John Seabrook in The New Yorker .
action
Professor Robert Kearns developed the interval wiper in the early 1960s . The auto companies implement the invention without paying Kearns. Kearns Sues Ford Motor Company ; his friend Gil Previck and his lawyer Gregory Lawson support him. Kearns wants to force the company to publicly admit guilty of theft of intellectual property.
The legal battle strains the professor's marriage with Phyllis as well as raising children. Kearns has a nervous breakdown and becomes unemployed. His marriage ends in divorce.
Reviews
John Horn wrote in the Los Angeles Times on September 1, 2008 that the film showed more than just a David versus Goliath court battle. It shows a person to whom fairness and honesty would mean more than anything else. Kearns is not a "classic Hollywood hero" .
The organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival wrote that the film provokes thought. They praised the script and the performances by Greg Kinnear, Lauren Graham, Dermot Mulroney and Alan Alda.

The world premiere took place at the end of August 2008 at the Telluride Film Festival . On September 7, 2008, the film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival . The film opened in US cinemas on October 3, 2008, and was released in German cinemas on June 25, 2009.
