Dante Spinotti

Dante Spinotti, ASC , AIC (born August 22, 1943 in Tolmezzo , Udine Province , Friuli , Italy ) is an American cameraman of Italian origin.

Life

Spinotti began his career at Radiotelevisione Italiana before working in Kenya for almost 10 years with his uncle, who is also a cameraman .

In 1985 Dino De Laurentiis noticed him and introduced Spinotti to film director Michael Mann . The thriller Blood Moon made Spinotti's debut as a US cameraman. Since then, Spinotti has been behind the camera in numerous films. He also worked repeatedly with Michael Mann after Blutmond and was behind the camera on his films The Last of the Mohicans , Heat , Insider and Public Enemies . In 2002 he also worked as a cameraman for the Blutmond remake Roter Drache .

He lives with his wife Marcella in Los Angeles as well as in Rome and his hometown of Tolmezzo .
