history

2004–2005: founding phase and This Will Be Our Little Secret

Vanna was founded in December 2004 as a music project by Nicholas Lambert ( rhythm guitar , background vocals ) and Evan Pharmakis ( lead guitar , clear vocals ) in Boston , Massachusetts . The duo recorded a demo in Lambert's room in the University of Massachusetts dormitory . Since neither Lambert nor Pharmakis could play drums, a drum computer was used.

Shortly afterwards, Brandon Davis ( drums ), Shawn Marquis ( electric bass ) and Joe Bragel ( vocals ) joined the two musicians. The five young musicians recorded the EP This Will Be Our Little Secret together . A total of only five copies were pressed, although a maximum circulation of 40 records was aimed for. Nevertheless, the group was able to develop a larger local fan base due to this EP. This EP even gave the band a record deal with Epitaph Records .

2005–2009: Time at Epitaph Records

The first release by Epitaph Records was in March 2006. It was a split EP with the US band Therefore I Am . From this split CD only 500 records were pressed. In February 2006 the band was already working on another EP. This is called The Search Party Never Came and was launched in June 2006. While they were still working in the studio, the group decided to split up with their singer Joe Bragel. Nicholas Lambert took his place as the lead singer for the rest of the production. After the EP was released, Chris Preece was introduced as the band's new lead singer.

The band spent the entire summer of 2006 on tour before moving into the studio in October to record their debut album with producer Matt Bayles . The recordings lasted all November. In mid-December 2006 the studio work was completed. In February 2007, the group began a concert tour to accompany The Esoteric . In April 2007 the debut album called Curses was finally released . In February 2008, drummer Brandon Davis left Vanna and formed his own band, Lions Lions . At this point, the group was on a concert tour, which was continued with Ryan Seaman, a session musician and friend of the band. When the group began working on their second album, Chris Campbell was introduced as the band's new drummer. In March 2009, the second album, A New Hope , was released via Epitaph Records.

In July 2009 Chris Preece left the band due to personal differences. The band continued their summer tour with A Static Lullaby with Preece. His last concert with Vanna was on the Warped Tour in Mansfield , Massachusetts . At this concert Davey Muise was announced as the new lead singer.

2010–2013: Change to Artery Recordings

In August 2010 it was announced that the group had signed a recording deal with Artery Recordings . The first release on the new label was the EP The Honest Hearts , which was released in October of the same year. In January 2011, the group announced that they would be moving into the studio with producer Matt Goldman to work on the third album. The album is called And They Came Baring Bones and was officially released in June 2011. In October 2011, the group toured as part of Never Say Die! Tour of Europe. Among others, Suicide Silence , The Human Abstract , As Blood Runs Black and Emmure were there . In February 2012, Chris Campbell and founding member Evan Pharmakias announced that they were leaving the band due to family and financial reasons. Eric Gross took over the post of drummer and Joel Pastuszak was integrated as the new guitarist and background singer at Vanna. In June 2013 Vanna played for the first time at the Summerblast Festival in the Excellence House in Trier . The group spent the summer of 2012 on the Warped Tour . In September and October 2012 Vanna toured with Oceano and For All Those Sleeping opened for Iwrestledabearonce through Europe . The performances took place in Germany , the United Kingdom , Italy , Austria , Belgium , Norway , Sweden , Denmark , Slovakia as well as in the Netherlands and Switzerland . The group toured Europe with Hundredth in February .

On March 19, 2013, the fourth studio album The Few and the Far Between was released via Artery Recordings. The band spent much of the year touring. These lasted until early 2014. In November 2013, the group announced that they would release another EP. This was financed entirely out of pocket. It's called Preying / Purging and was released in December 2013.

Since 2014: Change to Pure Noise Records

In February 2014 the band announced the move to Pure Noise Records . In the same announcement it was reported that Vanna will complete the complete Warped Tour again in 2014 after 2012 .
